Voice Of Glass returns to the music scene with a brand-new release - the three-tracked EP "Hours", featuring "Hours", "The River" and "All That Surrounds".
Recorded, mixed and mastered at Electric Shop Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Released under "Morpheus Songs" music label.
Voice Of Glass was founded in 2002 by American guitarist David Meek and Ukrainian-Bulgarian vocalist Olya Meek.
From the beginning, the dynamic duo strived to create its own blend of music mixed with elements of gothic, alternative and hard rock. The band boldly blended heavy guitar grooves with melody, in an ambitious quest to produce new and fresh music. While doing so, Voice Of Glass occasionally performed at local shows with the band going through several line-up changes in the rhythm section.
In the beginning of 2006, Voice Of Glass recorded its first single, ‘Valley’, at Millennium Studio in Sofia, Bulgaria, with the song receiving major praise by the local music critiques and scene. The band also produced a music video for ‘Valley’, which took off successfully, getting regular plays on the Bulgarian music channels MMTV and M2 during the summer of 2006.
Later the same year, Voice Of Glass released a second single, ‘Song Of Songs’, recorded, mixed and mastered at Sound Design Studio in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in December, 2006. A music video was filmed to the single with the video premiering on local music channels in the beginning of 2007. ‘Song Of Songs’ eventually reached No. 5 in the international top 20 chart of the Bulgarian music channel MMTV, launching the start of an exciting road of artistic expression and musical growth for the band.
After completing a successful tour in major Bulgarian cities in the spring of 2007, Voice Of Glass embarked on an extensive tour in the United States for the remaining summer-fall season. While on the road, the band ended up recording their first EP, ‘Making Me Real’, at the legendary Ardent studios in Memphis, Tennessee. A year later, in 2008, the band returned to the United States for a second tour, making the US its permanent home base.
In 2011, Voice Of Glass released its first full length album, “The End of You”, which was recorded and mixed at Fairview Recording Studio, located in greater Chicago area, Illinois. The release of the album culminated a nearly 10 year run of success and musical growth for the band.
In August, 2022, Voice Of Glass returned to the music scene with a brand new release - the three track EP "Hours", recorded, mixed and mastered at Electric Shop Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. For this project, the band teamed up with music veteran Andrew Beldy, who recorded, mixed, mastered and co-produced the music tracks on the EP, as well as contributed vocals and bass guitar on the “The River” track.
The "Hours" EP also marked the first time Voice Of Glass experimented with the sound of strings, featuring the well-seasoned and multi-talented Las Vegas-based Cellist/Violinist David Warner who performed on all three tracks, also adding back-up vocals to the song "Hours".
The "Hours" EP, released under Morpheus Records, is now available for digital download and streaming worldwide on most music platforms.
This May 30th, on Memorial Day, Voice Of Glass made its much anticipated return to the music scene with a brand new music video for the single ‘Hours’ from their newest EP by the same name.
For the video, Voice Of Glass teamed up with former Airborne Ranger Sledge Francis (SledgeForce Films) to create a powerful piece of art that tackles depression and suicide and encourages the viewers to live their hours, not just count them.
The band itself was filmed performing for the video in two days - February 4th and February 5th, 2022.
The first day of shooting took place at Photo Bang Bang Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. There, Voice Of Glass, guest-mucisian Cellist/Violinist David Warner and the filming crew taped into an unlimited source of creativity, as well as explored and experimented with different ideas, techniques and stylistic approaches - all under the directions of "Hours" visionary Director Sledge Francis and Assistant Director Ariel Harris.
The second day of filming unfolded outdoors, in the breathtaking outskirts of Sloan Canyon, near Las Vegas. The enchanting combination of a beautiful, winter sun, a golden hues-bathed desert landscape, and a gentle breeze - all present at the scene - certainly brought drama to the wide shots and CUs of the musicians performing for the camera.
After filming of the band finally wrapped up, additional scenes without the musicians were shot and added to the music video for the purpose of enhancing the narrative "Hours" follows. No other than the music video Director Sledge Francis took it upon himself to act in (and even at times film) the scenes, genuinely and effectively portraiting a character called Victor Glass - a combat veteran who struggles with PTSD, depression and thoughts of suicide but through sheer will and determination manages to overcome the above, choosing to live and celebrate life in its fullness.
A role of such magnitude required Director Sledge Francis to go to great lengths physically, emotionally and mentally, with him at some point even climbing a 10,064 ft tall mountain (San Antonio "Mt Baldy") by himself, where he filmed the powerful, emotional scenes of Victor Glass rising triumphantly over his long-time depression and despair and emerging victoriously as a forever-changed person.
The post-production of "Hours" took over three months during which Director Sledge Francis himself personally edited and colored the piece, spending over 1000 hours during the process.
Ultimately, the combination of hard work, true talent and artistry, displayed by everyone involved in the making of the "Hours" music video, produced an undoubtedly powerful, beautifully-crafted, deeply-moving short film masterpiece Voice Of Glass will forever be proud of and grateful for.
Today, Voice Of Glass invites you to take on the journey "Hours" offers, hoping that this music video will bring positive change and tons of inspiration into your life in the long-term. Don't miss the chance to view "Hours" in the section below.
